Tilt Sensor

Uniaxial sensors measure tilt in one plane, often horizontal. Biaxial sensors measure in two orthogonal planes simultaneously. For retaining walls or pile monitoring where tilt direction is known, a uniaxial sensor works. For landslide or bridge pier monitoring where tilt can happen in any direction, a biaxial sensor gives the full picture.

A standard MEMS tilt sensor can reach 0.01° to 0.05° accuracy. Environmental factors like temperature drift influence this. Sensors from Kingmach include temperature compensation to keep drift within spec. For higher precision needs, some projects use in-place inclinometer systems with even tighter tolerances.
